Around this time every year, we gather insights from across the 27Names network to track how client behavior and market conditions are evolving.

One thing is already clear: 𝐂𝐚𝐮𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 is clearly dominating the market mood right now.

More than 60% of our agencies describe their market as cautious, with agencies reporting shrinking or frozen budgets, slower decision-making, and increased pressure around spending. Only a very small minority are seeing clear market growth right now.

What’s striking is how closely this reflects what we uncovered in the European Experience Index (EEX®) 2025. The contradiction remains familiar: clients continue to ask for ambitious, high-impact experiences, while procurement pressure and increased scrutiny around value continue to shape the reality agencies are navigating.

    During our “Why Networking Is Failing Us” session at @techchill , we asked social anthropologist Mārtiņš Daugulis of @powerhouse_latvia a question that feels increasingly relevant: “𝐀𝐫𝐞 𝐰𝐞 𝐭𝐫𝐲𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐨 𝐦𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐮𝐫𝐞 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐧𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐭𝐨𝐨𝐥𝐬 𝐛𝐮𝐢𝐥𝐭 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐬𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧?”

His answer wasn’t about numbers. It was about humanity. 

He spoke about a kind of renaissance around human experience. After years of optimizing for efficiency, automation, and quantifiable outcomes, there’s growing value again in conversation, instinct, emotion, presence, and actually talking to people

“We live in a time where we feel the need to measure everything,” he said. “But decisions are often irrational. With all the data and technology we have, it’s time to bring humanity back.”

That tension also surfaced in the EEX® 2025. Nearly half of clients admitted they still struggle to effectively measure ROI and impact, while most feedback is still gathered informally through conversations rather than standardized systems. At the same time, audiences continue to place growing value on experiences that feel human, emotional, participatory, and real.

The contradiction is clear: the industry wants measurable outcomes, but many of the things that make experiences meaningful, like trust, chemistry, belonging, emotional resonance, don’t fit neatly into Excel sheets.

Research for the next edition of the EEX begins soon, and these are exactly the kinds of shifts and contradictions we’ll continue exploring across Europe’s live experience industry.

    Most creatives don’t struggle with ideas. They struggle with expectations. That was one of the threads that came through clearly in our conversation with artist @tadaocern last month.

After Inspiration X Vilnius, we asked him a series of questions around creativity, process, and what shapes the work we put into the world. And very quickly, the focus shifted away from “how to create,” and toward what gets in the way.

One of the biggest traps, he explained, is audience expectation. “𝘛𝘩𝘦𝘳𝘦’𝘴 𝘢 𝘥𝘢𝘯𝘨𝘦𝘳𝘰𝘶𝘴 𝘵𝘳𝘢𝘱 𝘸𝘩𝘦𝘳𝘦 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘴𝘵𝘰𝘱 𝘢𝘴𝘬𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘸𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘥𝘰 𝘐 𝘸𝘢𝘯𝘵 𝘵𝘰 𝘮𝘢𝘬𝘦? 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘴𝘵𝘢𝘳𝘵 𝘢𝘴𝘬𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘸𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘥𝘰 𝘱𝘦𝘰𝘱𝘭𝘦 𝘦𝘹𝘱𝘦𝘤𝘵 𝘧𝘳𝘰𝘮 𝘮𝘦? 𝘐’𝘷𝘦 𝘧𝘢𝘭𝘭𝘦𝘯 𝘪𝘯𝘵𝘰 𝘪𝘵 𝘮𝘺𝘴𝘦𝘭𝘧.”

It’s a subtle shift, but one that changes everything. Because once the work starts being shaped by expectation, something gets lost; not just for the creator, but for the audience as well.

“𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘪𝘳𝘰𝘯𝘺 𝘪𝘴 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘤𝘩𝘢𝘴𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘦𝘹𝘱𝘦𝘤𝘵𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯𝘴 𝘪𝘴 𝘢 𝘭𝘰𝘴𝘦-𝘭𝘰𝘴𝘦. 𝘠𝘰𝘶 𝘣𝘦𝘵𝘳𝘢𝘺 𝘺𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘰𝘸𝘯 𝘥𝘪𝘳𝘦𝘤𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯, 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘸𝘰𝘳𝘬 𝘣𝘦𝘤𝘰𝘮𝘦𝘴 𝘭𝘦𝘴𝘴 𝘨𝘦𝘯𝘶𝘪𝘯𝘦 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘺𝘰𝘯𝘦.” Instead, he points back to something much simpler, and much harder to trust.
